The verb ESTAR can also be used to form the    Present Progressive       , which we use to talk about                things that are happening RIGHT NOW.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

Here is how the progressive tense is formed( There are TWO parts):

1. First take the correct  Form of     Estar         +  the present participle ( or the verb with                                                                                         the - ar, -er, -ir ending knocked off AND                                                                                        add one of these two endings:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 for -ar verbs:           ADD    -ANDO                                                                                                 for -er & -ir verbs:   ADD  -IENDO

Estoy, Estas, Esta, Estamos, Estais or Estan

In English, we use the progressive tense all the time. In Spanish, the progressive tense is much less common and its use is more restricted.

When we use the progressive in Spanish, we are emphasizing
